ENTROPY
ENTROPY
Entropy is the physical measure of disorder. Our universe is striving towards a maximum entropy, that is, if no force acts against it, the disorder/chaos increases permanently. Nevertheless, gravity manages to create structures/formations that are structured, i.e. more orderly. This is how clusters, galaxies, solar systems, stars and planets are formed. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, for example, is a rotating spiral galaxy held together by a black hole in its center and dark matter.
In the pictures of the Entropy series, structures also arise from the disorder - due to the solution energy of the salt crystals in the liquid ink, new galaxies, interstellar nebulae and black holes are formed. In the process of creation, the question of chaos, order - and entropy arises.
